Early Years have been helping their community

Today at Forest School, we decided to do our bit towards keeping Britain tidy. The Great British Spring Clean started this week and we contacted our local authority as a school and they supplied us with litter pickers, high visibility jackets and gloves.

So, before we set off off we instructed our children on what to do and what not to do to ensure we all stay safe (as per our risk assessment) then off we went in the snow - wrapped up warm to do our bit for our environment. Because other year groups have also been doing this we decided to go somewhere when no one had been.

We walked through Newbold college grounds and ended up at the play park near family Housing. We found lots of litter. We collected every bit that we saw and put them in the bags provided. Our teachers feel very proud of us as we have helped our environment.

As it was so cold today and some of the children were feeling the cold, we decided to come back to class and read our Michael Recycle book to learn more about what we have done today and how we can help the environment further by recycling. The teachers then surprised us with a treat and we all warmed up with some nice hot chocolate.
