KS2 Art work in the Woodland

It was a wonderful week for a forest school!

The sun shone through the trees as we walked through our superb forest school grounds to see the changes as new plants grow and the green leaves rejuvenate. We were treated to lots of signs of deer, including seeing the deer in the deer field, who quickly scampered off once they noticed us. The children followed the deer tracks left in the soft mud and realised how much of the forest space they were sharing with them.

The children explored natural art this week with Sycamore class developing their tool skills to create string and stick hanging decorations. Oak class were tasked with creating natural pigments from vegetables and natural materials they found in forest school. Both classes had the opportunity for free exploration and made many personal discoveries. Oak class found that making green was surprisingly hard given all of the green material, but they did make successful yellow, purple and brown.

Their next session will put these skills to use as they paint pictures with their more successful natural pigments, and appreciate the beauty of the nature they are surrounded by.

Thank you to Asun for taking some wonderful pictures.
