A massive Spring Clean in Binfield and Newbold College

We were proud to participate in the Great Big School Clean run by Keep Britain Tidy. Newbold School pledged to pick up just four bags of litter. By collectively taking this pledge schools across the UK can effectively remove 10.3 million bags of litter from our natural environment.

We helped to look after God’s wonderful world by tidying up the local environment. We also know that litter can harm animals. Every child had their own litter picker and really enjoyed helping. It was a big success and we know we made a positive difference.

We also loved taking part in the whole school litter pick for Keep Britain Tidy. We managed to collect two heavy binbags from the deer field next to the school. We spotted deer and felt happy that we had saved them from eating any plastics or other rubbish.

This week we were very grateful to have our turn with the litter pickers. We walked along Popeswood road and around the outskirts of the deer field picking up any litter we could find.

Although there were some larger items, like a couple of metal poles, the children were pleasantly surprised to find that there was less litter than the previous year in the same areas. They talked about how litter ends up on the floor and how picking up litter is one way we can show stewardship over the land. They thought about their faith when making decisions about how to treat the world around us.
