Years 1-2 (Beech Class)We had a wonderful time at Woolley Firs Environmental Education Centre this week. (Also open to families). The children took part in a minibeast safari and collected spiders in the meadow with sweep nets and bug hunting kits. We learned about the life cycles of dragonflies and even found some dragonfly nymphs when pond dipping. The children were able to hold minibeasts and could identify and classify insects. We identified different habitats and thought about the creatures that lived within them. What an absolutely fabulous day! Claire from The Berkshire, Buckingham and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust was amazing and was so informative. The children learned so much. It was fantastic to hear the children applying their scientific knowledge during their activities. |
