At Newbold School, we’re passionate about nurturing not only young minds but also a greater awareness of the world around us. As part of our commitment to caring for the environment, we’ve recently embarked on a new sustainability journey, focusing on the simple but powerful principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Rather than discarding our old, weather-worn shed and contributing to landfill waste, we asked ourselves: How can we give it new life? With a little imagination the idea was born: we wouldn't knock it down — we'd upcycle it into something special. Welcome to the beginning of our Wonder Shed!
On a scorching summer afternoon, the staff team rolled up their sleeves, paintbrushes in hand, and gave the tired structure a much-needed makeover. Together, we painted it a rich, earthy shade of chocolate, transforming it into a warm and inviting feature of our school grounds.
This marks Phase 1 of our Wonder Shed project — and we couldn’t be more proud. Not only have we saved materials from going to waste, but we’ve also created something meaningful as a school community.
In the next phases, we’ll be adding new uses, decorative touches, and maybe even some student-led sustainability projects. Our Wonder Shed is set to become a symbol of creativity, teamwork, and eco-conscious thinking.
