Last term was a really positive one for Biodiversity, and we’re proud of everything the children helped achieve, from planting wildflowers and trees to building bug hotels, installing bird feeders and creating new habitats around the school. Many of these initiatives will continue this half term.
As we move forward, our focus shifts to energy, where we will be working with the children to explore simple, practical ways to reduce our energy use and, in turn, our energy costs.
We’re starting small by encouraging everyone to switch things off when rooms are not in use, supported by reminder posters in every classroom. We’ll also be introducing a “Switch Off Squad” in each class to help check whiteboards, computers, windows, taps and blinds at the end of the day. Simple actions, like closing blinds at night in winter to retain heat, can make a real difference.
Thank you for supporting our journey as we build on our biodiversity success and work together towards smarter, more sustainable energy use. Happy energy saving!
