🏫 A Fascinating Visit from Local Author and Historian Andrew Radgick ✨
📚 This week, Newbold School was delighted to welcome Andrew Radgick, a local author and historian who has written wonderful books about the history of Bracknell and Binfield.
🖼️
Mr Radgick gave two fascinating talks, one for Key Stage 1 and another for Key Stage 2, helping us step back in time and explore how our local area has changed through history.
🕰️ Victorian Life for Key Stage 1
Our Key Stage 1 pupils loved learning all about Victorian life in Bracknell and Binfield. They discovered what schools were like, how people worked, and even how homes looked in those days! It was amazing to see how much has changed — and surprising to find out that some Victorian buildings are still standing in our community today.

⚔️ World War I and the Local Community for Key Stage 2
For Key Stage 2, Mr Radgick explored how World War I affected people living in our local area. Pupils listened intently as he shared stories of bravery, community spirit, and how the war changed everyday life.
This talk was especially helpful as Key Stage 2 pupils continue their research for the Malcolm Doolin Award, giving them a real-life connection to their studies.

🌳 Looking Back to Look Forward
It was wonderful to learn how our community has grown and changed over time — yet how some things remain the same. Mr Radgick’s visit truly helped us appreciate the history all around us here in Bracknell and Binfield.
We’d like to give a big thank you to Mr Radgick for sharing his passion, knowledge, and enthusiasm with us. 👏
